Going to China!

Echo Electronics HKDave and I are going to China next month to tour around and visit electronics and other manufacturing facilities. Bunnie Huang, famed co-creator of the Chumby and author of Hacking the Xbox, is graciously organizing a trip for a small group of hacker-builder types to gain a greater understanding of building electronic doodads in volume.

We have experience manufacturing and assembling with US-based partners in the <1000 unit range, but I’m excited to learn about how the big doggers do it in Asia.

The traveling party is awesome so far – Leah Buechley, Nathan Seidle of Sparkfun, Tom Igoe, Eric Schweikardt (creator of RoBlocks) and Windell Oskay.

Hopefully this will mean more Taco Lab products in the future!
